Sharjah Media Centre, Motivate Publishing Sign MoU to Distribute Book, Monuments of Sharjah

SHARJAH/Sharjah Media Centre, November 6, 2016 – Sharjah Media Centre (SMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Motivate Publishing for the distribution and marketing of their book, Monuments of Sharjah, in the Literature Forum Hall at the Sharjah International Book Fair. The MoU was signed by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre, and Ian Fairservice, Managing Partner and Group Editor of Motivate Publishing. Present on the occasion were Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Media Centre, Mohammad Hassan Khalaf, Director of Sharjah Radio and Television, and a number of officials and members of publishing and media industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmad Al Qasimi said, “The signing of Memorandum of Understanding with Motivate Publishing to distribute, Monuments of Sharjah, is truly a special occasion for us considering the importance of this book. Sharjah is known for its magnificent monuments, celebrating the best of Arab and Islamic architecture and culture. This book captures it all with its stunning images and history. I hope everyone will visit the Sharjah Media Centre pavilion at the Book Fair or other outlets across the country to get hold of this exquisite book.”

Monuments of Sharjah showcases the popular public squares and historical buildings of Sharjah through distinct and rare photographs that capture both the old and modern history of the Emirate.

According to the agreement, Motivate Publishing has exclusive rights for the distribution and marketing of Monuments of Sharjah in the UAE and other GCC countries. The marketing plan includes distribution of the book in retail, and promoting it in all major outlets within the UAE. Motivate will also extend its services to ensure that the book reaches as wide an audience as possible, drawing from its rich experience in publishing and sales through its headquarters in London, as well as in its regional hubs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.


On behalf of Motivate Publishing, Ian Fairservice expressed his pleasure at signing the distribution agreement of Monuments of Sharjah at the Sharjah International Book Fair. “As a company, we are delighted to partner with Sharjah Media Centre and to have the opportunity to publish this extraordinary book and grow in the Arab region.”

The book, Monuments of Sharjah, profiles the landmarks and monuments of the Emirate and details the historical background of events and places. The book includes some of the most famous landmarks, such as the Rolla Square and the first and second Majaz Squares. It also includes the Martyrs’ Monument, Sharjah Municipality, the Palm Monument, Al Taawun Monument, and others. The book is indeed a unique journey through the Emirate known for its love of culture, heritage and knowledge.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, accompanied by Tariq Saeed Allay, later toured the Sharjah International Book Fair and visited a number of pavilions belonging to different publishing houses, including Motivate’s.

The SMC pavilion at the Book Fair this year has been a major attraction for journalists, writers and publishers. The SMC pavilion also features new book releases such as Press: Ethics & Career. The book is based on the thoughts of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and his vision for the media. It includes his review of different press models, and discusses codes of ethics for those looking at a career in journalism. Also available is Clusters of Light, an epic that was performed during the opening of Al Majaz Amphitheatre, marking the crowning of Sharjah as the Islamic Culture Capital for 2014.
