HR professionals aim to address regional issue in Unlocking the Paradox of Plenty

Motivate Publishing is pleased to announce the release of Unlocking the Paradox of Plenty: A Review of The Talent Landscape in the Arab World and Your Role in Shaping the Future, by David B. Jones and Radhika Punshi. Present at the official launch of the book, which took place on 4 December 2013 at the Arabian Gallery, were Moritz Hartmann, General Manager of Roche Diagnostics Middle East, Her Excellency Andrea Reichlin, Switzerland’s ambassador to the UAE, Ian Fairservice, Managing Partner of Motivate Publishing and John Deykin, General Manager of Motivate Books.

The book addresses the unique dilemma faced by the region with regards to its economic and social future. The GCC countries are full of opportunities, growth and promises for both nationals and expatriate workers who steer its economies forward. However, it also has some of the highest levels of youth employment, the lowest representation of females at work and concerning levels of employee engagement.

Unlocking the Paradox of Plenty takes a close look at these challenges. The book showcases the unique nature of the labour market, and moves towards creating effective debate, dialogue and action from all stakeholders, whether they are employees, employers, nationals or expatriates from either the public or private sector. David B. Jones and Radhika Punshi emphasize the need to truly engage and develop the local workforce, focusing on sustainability, skill competitiveness and employability. In the words of the authors to the reader, ”Our aim is to encourage greater dialogue, local research, active debate and deliberate action from policymakers, organizational leaders, HR professionals and you.”
